Our beloved mother, Cora Ann Miller White, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2021 at the age of 90. She was welcomed into the loving arms of her first husband Neal and their first born daughter, Christina Lynn.
Cora Ann was born in Newcastle, Oklahoma on February 8, 1931 to Lester James Morgan and his wife, Agatha Teulum Morgan. At the age of 3, she moved with her family to Phoenix, Arizona because of her mother’s health issues with tuberculosis. Her new family home was a farm on the north bank of the Salt River, which is now underneath the south runway for Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. She attended Phoenix Union High School and, during that time, she was introduced to and married the love of her life, Harrison Neal Miller. Together they had four children: Christina Lynn Miller, Brian Neal Miller (Lennie); Christina Ann Carey and Teresa Kay Johnson (Erick). Following her husband through his management career with Safeway Stores, Cora Ann worked in school systems in Arizona, California and Nebraska as an administrative assistant. Upon returning to Arizona in 1976, Cora Ann was employed by Safeway Stores in their Phoenix corporate offices.
As her family grew, Cora Ann enjoyed many camping vacations in California and Arizona with friends and family and, later on, enjoying their cabin in Heber-Overgaard, Arizona. Sewing, card games and Rummikub were among some of her favorite things to do. In later years we learned to watch mom carefully while playing Rummikub because she was known to take advantage of us when we weren’t looking!
Cora Ann was preceded in death by her first daughter Christina Lynn (1954), her husband Neal (1976), her second husband Jack White (2011) and her brothers David, James and Keith Morgan. She is survived by her sister, Betty Ann Hood. She was also the proud grandmother of 7 grandchildren: Michael Johnson, Jennifer Carey, Richard Carey, Glenda Nicole Johnson Morsilli, Morgan Kathleen Johnson, Kaitlyn Miller and Austin Miller as well as 1 great-granddaughter, Saylor Brynn Johnson.
Our family is eternally grateful to Suncrest Hospice and especially to Angie Cook, her hospice nurse, and to the nurses and caregivers at the La Siena Assisted Living facility. We could not have gotten through these past few months without all of their support and guidance.
Graveside services will be held on October 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Memory Lawn, 2300 W. Van Buren Street, Phoenix, Arizona.
