He was born July 23, 1933 in Terlton, Oklahoma to Edward Frank and Margaret Ann Henkel.
Cliff graduated from Arizona State University and served in the armed forces of the US-Army branch. He worked as an elementary school teacher and principal for many years before being elected to the Peoria School Board. Clifford married Alvina E. Clay on November 26, 1955. Together they joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and were sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple in 1963.
Survivors include his children: Bradley Henkel of Oceanside, Sherree (Henkel) Svancara of Peoria, Rodney Henkel of Peoria, Michael Henkel of Fountain Hills and Vance Curley of Surprise. Cliff is also survived by brothers Junior and Ralph along with 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Arthur, Johnny, Ray, daughter Beverly Henkel and loving wife, Alvina E. (Clay) Henkel. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary, 200 W. Beardsley Rd., Phoenix, Arizona 85027.
