Lillie Christine Boone (known to most as Christine or Chris), was born on December 5, 1951 in El Dorado, Arkansas. She was one of seventeen children born to Gene (Buddy) Boone & Arvella Ramey, who both preceded her in death. Her siblings: Troy Boone, Clifford Boone, Dego Boone, Herbert (Norman) Boone, James Earl Boone, James Wiley Wilson, Sherman Boone, Jo Ann Roberts, Cora Lee Jones, Dyrine Ray, Birdie Lee Miller, Alvada Miller, Willie Mae Jones, Ora Faye Manning, & Nora Mae Harper all preceded her in death.
She attended George Washington High School in Texarkana, Arkansas. After eleventh grade, she entered the workforce. Her work experience included working as a switchboard operator at John Wesley Hospital. Additional work history included “working for white people in their houses.” These were her words. She was known for her candor & humor, so this quote shouldn’t come as a shock. Nonetheless, much of her remaining work experience centered around homemaking & caregiving.
At the age of sixteen (1967), she moved from Arkansas to be with her big sisters in Los Angeles, CA. This was the place she laid down roots & called home for fifty years. Within those fifty years, she lived in various cities within Los Angeles county including Lancaster, CA where she lived for nearly two decades. The last few years of her life were spent in Arizona. She found security & comfort there in the care of her niece, Moleshia, who became her primary caregiver.
Her smile & laugh were known to many because she was notorious for cracking a joke or two. She was one of those people who were just witty or “funny without trying to be funny,” as people might say. Her voice carried when she entered a room or engaged in conversation; her presence was always felt. She shared her faith & love of God with others while also not being afraid to show her love of Keith Sweat.
Although she never had biological children of her own, her wish was to “put Ora Faye’s kids down as my kids].” Thus, she leaves to cherish her memory Moleshia Manning, Jotasha Washington, Tya Echols (Kimberly), Faye Washington, Joseph Washington, Jr., & Thomas Hutley II. Her final remaining sibling, Charles Boone, & a host of nieces, nephews, that extend to Great-Great in generation, cousins, & other relatives also remain to mourn and cherish her memory.

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.” – John 15:9-11
Precious Thoughts
You and I had this thing between us - only you and I understood it. No matter what, you are my auntie. I love you, Christine Boone! We will pick up where we left off. Kisses and hugs! Love you, auntie! -Meme
Aunt Chris, what can I say? Nearly every memory I have of you involves the two of us breaking out into laughter. Four words we knew people would say in describing us were: “They love to laugh!” This was beyond true. Sharing your birthday month and having my birthday just one day before yours was another thing that just linked us. You always made me feel special. I’m happy that we both understood the love that we had for one another. Rest easy now! You are with the “Kid” and nearly the rest of your siblings now. I love you! -Tya (Shanniebun)
I love you, Aunt Chris. You did right by me by not taking me back. You showed tough love and that helped me. -Joe
My name is Yesenia. I met Christine two years ago when she first came to Arizona. I became her caregiver. When I introduced myself, I told her what my name was, but for some reason she couldn’t say it right. So, for the last two years, she called me “Lucenda.” I eventually got used to it. Christine, I am going to miss you. Knowing that you are in a better place, with no pain, makes me happy. I love you, lady, and again, I am going to miss you very much.
