Chew Ling Ong, 87, of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away peacefully on May 3, 2012. He was born on February 1, 1925 in Canton, China and immigrated to Phoenix, Arizona in 1950. He began working in a grocery store and eventually owned and operated his own grocery store in south Phoenix with his wife, Yuet, for 13 years before retiring. His favorite hobbies were raising quails and rabbits, gardening and grafting fruit trees, cooking and eating, and occasionally hitting the casinos. Chew Ling is survived by his wife, Yuet, of 44 years, daughter, Jo Ann (Harold), and son, Bill, and grandchildren Isaac and Katie. He is also survived by his step-children, Charlie (Elsa), Mary (Ben), and Judy (Mark), and 9 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great grandchildren and preceded in death by his 2 step-sons, Jim (Muyin) and John (Kandy). Visitation will be at 10:00am followed by services at 11:00am on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, Serenity Chapel, 2300 W. Van Buren, Phoenix, Arizona.
