Charlotte Mae Archuleta, the eldest daughter of one of the settling pioneers of the Casa Grande Valley passed away from heart complications after suffering from the effects of a stroke in 2007. Her parents were Claude and Marie Wells, well known community leaders, whose descendants are still actively farming in the community. She was born in Casa Grande on May 12, 1928, and was the second child; her siblings were an older brother, and a younger brother and sister, all born in Casa Grande. She attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff where she met her husband, and due to the exigencies of the service was able to travel the world as a military wife and mother whose husband was a veteran of three wars. She produced a family of three sons and four daughters, and after her husband retired from the Air Force, the family moved to Tempe. She is a licensed pilot, and flew her own airplane all over the state and is proud that she viewed this beautiful state from all corners, in all kinds of weather, day and night. She is survived by her husband, all her children and 15 grandchildren. By far, it is not a record, but it is a very good contribution to our nation.
