Charles was born on June 12, 1935 to Charles and Mahalia Herndon in Joplin, Missouri. After attending Phoenix Tech High School, at the age of 17, he enlisted in the Navy. Charles valued his time serving on the USS Oriskany, an aircraft carrier. As part of his service, Charles was active during the Korean War.
After his time in the Navy, he started working in the construction field and became a Union Carpenter, kickstarting a 30+ year career framing countless homes in Arizona. In 1953, Charles met Patricia when she asked him to dance on a dare at a high school ball. They married on October 1, 1955. Charles and Patricia went on to have 3 children, CharlAnn, Terry, & Neva. In 1991, Charles retired and spent his time hunting, supporting his grandchildren in their sports and extracurriculars, and playing the guitar.
Charles was predeceased by Patricia (Wife), CharlAnn (Daughter), Margie (Daughter In Law), Amanda (Grand Daughter), Wyatt (Great Grandson). He is survived by his sister Emily, son Terry, daughter Neva, 7 grandchildren, & 18 great grandchildren.
