Carole Lynn Kuefer, 85, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on April 20, 2024. Carole was born to Leon and Emma Hobson on February 28, 1939 in Phoenix, Arizona. She attended Phoenix Union High School where she was active in the band as a majorette and in 4-H with livestock projects. During her time at Arizona State University, she went on to become Dairy Princess for the state of Arizona and competed for the national title.
Carole left college on the arm of Bill Kuefer. There she found her true calling. As a mother, she loved, nurtured, lectured, guided and encouraged her children to be good people and be thankful for the gift of life that she gave them. Together she and Bill would teach them the love of animals through 4-H and farm life in Camp Verde, Arizona. She used the national parks to introduce her children to the beauty of God’s creation and maybe even a little history. She even attempted to pass on a little of her elegance and culture. Later in life, she would describe these as the best years of her life. She truly loved being a mother.
Carole worked as a Rural Letter Carrier for the USPS. She was very active in the leadership of her union and thought long and hard before moving into management where she served as an Officer in Charge and eventually Postmaster of the Gadsden, Arizona post office. After her retirement in 2010 at the age of 70, she jumped right into her next passion project at Yellowstone National Park where she worked for seven summers. The friendships and connections she made there were greatly cherished and brought her smiles to the end. Throughout life, she was known for her upbeat attitude, empathy, listening skills, and ability to share a helpful nugget of wisdom about whatever was bothering you from her "soapbox."
Carole is survived by her three loving children, niece, and their families.
