Carole passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children, on February 27th at the age of 73.
Carole leaves behind her beloved husband of 55 years, Bob and their 3 children, Stacey (Jeff), Bobby (Annie), and Harold (Rachel).
Carole will also be forever remembered by her grandchildren: Lauren, Jacob, Johnny, Jennifer, Jeffrey and Matthew, great-grandchildren: Johnathan, Maddison, and Hudson.
A lifelong animal lover, Carole also leaves behind her two dogs, Nicky and Tiffany.
Carole is also survived by her sister, Verna and brother Nicky.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lillian and Peter Checker and her oldest sister, Renee.
A native of New England, Carole graduated from nursing school and became an award winning Immunization Nurse/Vaccine Manager for the Mountain Park Health Centers.
Under Carole's leadership, the clinics' vaccine program became a model for the nation.
When Carole retired from Mountain Park, she worked as a nurse consultant for the Phoenix Fire Department. Additionally, Carole was an adjunct faculty member for the ASU College of Nursing and a Commissioner for the City of Phoenix Human Services Department.
Carole was a passionate republican and loved politics. In 2016, she was awarded the GOP Lifetime Achievement Award.
Known for her tremendous energy, Carole was also an avid gardener, baker, seamstress, and Red Sox fan.
A Catholic mass will be celebrated in memory of Carole, March 7th at 11:00 a.m at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 3220 West Greenway Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85053.
Reception to follow immediately at Saint Raphael Catholic Church, 5525 West Acoma Rd. Glendale, AZ 85306. Carole will be buried March 16th at Jordan Cemetery in Waterford, CT.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Carole may be made to the Kwamie Lassiter Foundation, 2820 S. Alma School Rd. #18-300, Chandler, AZ 85286.
Donations will go directly to the children battling cancer and Sickle Cell Anemia at Phoenix Children's Hospital.
