She went to school in Breckenridge, MI and graduated in 1947. After high school she graduated from beauty school and worked as a beauty operator at the Mademoiselle Salon in Saginaw and the Darling Salon in Breckenridge, MI.
At the age of 24, she married a Naval veteran, Edwin Rudell, and was the mother to four children.
In 1962, she moved with her husband and children to Phoenix, AZ. Along with caregiving of her children and grandchildren, she worked at Motorola until retirement.
She attended both Baptist and Mennonite Churches in Sunnyslope.
In later years, Carol, Ed and son Dana moved to join their youngest son, Kurt to Luebbering, then Hermann, MO. She attended the Fairview Methodist Church in Grubville and enjoyed being a part of the quilting circle.
In 2013, they moved back to Phoenix, AZ.
Among some of Carol’s favorite memories was listening to her father and family’s music: her father played violin in a band and at home, and other family members played various instruments too. Her mother Anna would walk to ‘call on’ several houses each week in their hometown, always bringing fresh-baked gifts and flowers. She also enjoyed her 50th wedding anniversary and her 90th surprise birthday party.
Carol is predeceased by her husband, Edwin Arthur Rudell, her parents Samuel Hayes and Anna (Joslin) Hackett, Wheeler, MI; her sisters Lola Marie Grayzar and Vera Arlene Booth of MI; her half-brothers and sister, Theo Hackett (Hall), Lyle Elton Hackett, Milton Audrey Hackett, Arnold Raymond Hackett; and grandson Nathan Rudell.
