On January 2, 2022, Carlos Moreno Garcia of Phoenix, AZ passed away surrounded by his family. He was born in Mexico City on August 22, 1957. In 1964 his parents moved the family to Phoenix, Arizona, where Carlos spent the remainder of his childhood. After high school, he backpacked through Mexico. It was an experience he would fondly recall for years to come. He briefly settled in Ciudad del Carmen, in Campeche, Mexico where he met and married his wife, Sandra, before moving to Mexico City. After the birth of their daughter Lidia, they moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where the couple welcomed their son Michael. Over his lifetime he worked as a hotel manager, a tax preparer, an accountant, and a realtor. He also owned several businesses, including Sky Harbor Check Cashing and Quo Vadis Messenger Services. In 2012 Carlos realized a lifelong ambition to own a restaurant when he opened Uno Mas Mexican Grill in downtown Phoenix. He had many pursuits and passions, chief among them playing his guitar and studying the history of Mexico and the Aztec civilization. He was a doting and devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. His family and friends will forever treasure his memory and preserve it in countless remembrances of his kindness, generosity, optimism, humor, stories, music, and love.
A celebration of life will be held on January 22 at noon at Destination Church, located at 5304 W Greenway Ave, Glendale, AZ.
