Brian Tyler, 79, of Cave Creek, AZ passed away on February 8, 2023. He was born on October 17, 1943 in Los Angeles, CA.
His father was an electrician and his mother worked as a librarian. Later his parents were involved with the Manhattan Project in Los Alamos, NM, where his younger brother Hob was born February 18, 1945.
The family later relocated back to Southern, CA where Brian attended Charter Oak High School in Covina, CA. Aside from being a very good student, Brian excelled in 3 sports (Football, Basketball, Baseball) earning ALL CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) honors in all three. He graduated High School in 1961 and earned a 4 year full scholarship to play football at Arizona State University. While at ASU Brian was a member of Phi Delta Theta. Brian graduated from ASU in 1966 with a degree in Business Administration.
After College Brian worked as a stockbroker (Dean Witter), commercial real estate broker (Coldwell Banker 1977-1986) and finally finished his working career by obtaining his insurance license and working with Farmers Insurance from 1986 until he retired in 2018.
Friends and family of Brian recall his immense love of sports and his unrelenting gift of “banter”. He loved to travel, golf, hike, snow ski and converse about current events.
Brian is survived by his wife of 33 years, Bonnie Tyler, her two children Katie Cassidy and Steven Madden (Kathy Peters), Brian’s two children Cassie Keown (George) and Matt Tyler (Kelly), his brother Hob Tyler, and sister in law Debbie Mohler (Buddy). Brian is also survived by his nine grandchildren (Alyssa/Alexia Cassidy, Addison/Riley Madden, Jessica Peters, Hunter/Hailey Keown, Weston/Hayes Tyler), mother in law (Nina Ehrlich), and his 4 nieces and nephews (Steven/Alex Tyler and Joe Mohler/Kristie Russ).
A Celebration of Life is planned for March 3rd, 2023 at 2:00pm at Phoenix Memorial.
