Jean was born on January 7, 1926, in Grand Island, Nebraska. As the daughter of a much loved Methodist Minister and his wife, she grew up in different towns in Nebraska and belonged to many church groups. Jean attended Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska for two years before joining United Airlines as a flight attendant for a brief time. She went on to attend Kearney State Teachers College in 1948 and 1949 and then taught First Grade for three years which she loved. She also enjoyed singing in church choir during those years. Jean married in 1956 to Leith James Corbridge, Jr., an Army officer, and traveled around the world with him from one adventure to the next for 22 years of military life. During those years Jean and Leith welcomed three children to their lives and had a wonderful 48 years of marriage together.Jean and family finally moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1974 where she enjoyed being the school secretary at Booker T. Washington Elementary School in Mesa for many years. A few years after Leith passed away in 2004, Jean moved to San Diego, California to be closer to Carol, one of her daughters, as all of her children had moved away from Arizona to different states. Jean remained in California until her passing. We will remember mom by her devotion, love and commitment to dad and family and always making her family her priority. She lived her life valuing her faith with a dedication to love and caring for others always. Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Lt. Col. Leith James Corbridge, Jr.
She will be deeply missed by her children: Carol, William and Cecile; grandchildren: Torrey, Montana, Scott, Skye, Shay, Jordan, Tyler, Shauna; greatgrandchildren: Landon, Lena, Alex; niece Robin; and many dear friends who knew her. Mom your spirit will always be in our hearts, we are blessed God chose you to be our mom. Take our love with you as we cherish the love you leave behind with us. Thank you for your enduring love.
