Bernard Dawkins was born on November 1, 2016 in Clarendon, Jamaica to Frederick and Eliza Dawkins. He emigrated to England at the age of 26 to join his brother William. He married his wife Verna in April 1955. They decided to settle in London. Bernard was employed by The London Transport Organization and drove one of the red London double decker buses for nearly 30 years. He loved it, but the cold weather began to affect him. They emigrated to the U.S. in May 1986. Bernard and his wife was invited and accommodated by the Mackey family whom they met through mutual friends when Mr. Harold Mackey Jr. was stationed in England during his military career. Bernard did security work in AZ until he retired in 1998. He is survived by his wife Verna, sons Errol and Linton Dawkins, daughter Pauline Sandell, grandsons Anthony Dawkins and Daniel Sandell in London granddaughters Janine Sandell in Spain and Esha Dawkins in Florida and many nephews and nieces in England, Jamaica and the U.S.Funeral services will be held at 10am Saturday, November 5, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 750 E Southern Ave. Phoenix AZ, 85040.
