Barbara Cowern Sawyer entered into life on October 25, 1916 in Fayville, MA to Herbert G. and Ethel (Harris) Cowern and entered into rest October 8, 2010 in Phoenix, AZ after a short illness. She was 93 years of age. Barbara lived her earlier life in Framingham, MA and married Charles F. Sawyer in 1939. They had two daughters, She worked mainly as a waitress, a job that she loved. After their retirment in 1977, they moved to Tucson and then to Phoenix. Most recently Barbara had lived at Fellowship Square. Barbara was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a true believer in Jesus Christ and loved sharing the word of Jesus with others. She was known for her outgoing personality. the beautiful flowers she grew, and the hugs she gave. She loved her family and friends, her grandchildren and her dogs. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings, and her husband, Charles F. Sawyer. She is survived by her daughters, Ruth (Stephen) Borowsky of Phoenix and Christine (Verne) Parrish of Phoenix. She also leaves grandchildren, Heidi (Douglas) Kartel of Boise, ID: Matthew Borowsky of Phoenix; and David (Jaime) Borowsky of Phoenix and seven great grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, October 17, at Sunnyslope Presbyterian Church at 10:00 A.M. The family would like to invite all who knew and loved Barbara to attend. There will also be a memorial service at Fellowship Square at a later date. Graveside service will be held at 12:30 P.M. on Friday, October 15, 2010 at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N.
