Barbara Gordon passed away peacefully while napping, after a 10-year battle with Alzheimer’s, and secondary complications. She was from Brooklyn New York and attended NYC Community College, earning certificates in photography, and commercial art.
In 1956 she married and moved to Grand Rapids Michigan. There she had 2 daughters, and returned to college, studying business law, writing, and communications. She was involved in Civic and Circle Theatre, acting, dancing, and set design.
In 1979 she relocated to the Los Angeles area to be near her sister. There, her lifelong learning continued in computers. She worked at the Disneyland Hotel as a word processor between 1984-1989. From 1990-1992 she was an executive secretary at Warner Brothers. After that, from 1992-1997 she was with Aetna Medicare Administration Center.
She relocated to Sedona Arizona in 1999 to be closer to her daughter and granddaughter. She continued to study computers and was involved in Zumba.
Surviving family includes:
2 Daughters- Cheryl Adkins (Linda) Phoenix, AZ and Lee Shackelford (Mike) Greenville, NC
2 Grandchildren- Lauren Williams (Morgan) Tempe, AZ and Reid Shackelford Greenville, NC
3 great grandchildren Milan, Henry, and Iseley Williams
3 sisters Carol Morra Los Angeles, CA, and Ivy Austin (Richard) Bronx, New York, and Kim Gordon (Jeff) Hydes, MD.
5 nieces/nephews Adam, and Paris Morra (David) Los Angeles, California; Ali Pearlman (Steven) Harrison, NY, Oliver; and Nolan Marsh Bronx, NY
She began attending KingdomGate Pentecostal Church in 2012. She will be missed by all of her family and friends.
