Arvill Franklin Johnson age 81 passed away March 2, 2015 in Mesa, Arizona. Arvill was born on Tuesday, February 13, 1934 in a home on Ruth Street (built by his Dad) in Prescott, Arizona to Hazel Eunice Scott and James Gerald Johnson. He was the youngest of his siblings which included Gerald, Cora, Flora, Dora, and Vernalee.
He grew up in Prescott and at the age of 10 years old moved to Chino Valley. He had attended school at Miller Valley Elementary School and Chino Valley Elementary School. He attended Junior High School and Senior High School in Prescott graduating in 1953.
He loved farming in the Chino Valley and surrounding area. He later worked at the rock quarry and then hired on with Television Services, an independent owned cable company. He transferred with the company to Reno, Nevada where he worked as a Line Man and later as Chief Engineer for several years until he returned to Prescott. He worked as the Chief Engineer and then as the Manager for several years until transferring to Baytown, Texas. He then was transferred to Liberal, Kansas where he worked as the Manager before retiring in 2001. He worked in the Cable TV industry for 45 years and was considered a Pioneer seeing many changes over those years from open wire to fiber optics.
He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Central Atlantic States from 1954 to 1956. He later served in various callings in the church, such as a Stake Missionary, Young Men's leader, Bishop, High Counselor and in the District Presidency.
He married his sweetheart Merle Janyce Angle, April 20, 1956 in the Mesa Arizona Temple, they have been married for almost 59 years. He is survived by his loving wife Merle, daughters Cindy and her husband Preston Davis, Darla and her husband Merlin Allred, Chad and his wife Cindy Johnson and Rudy Johnson. 21 grandchildren and 32 great great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Friday, March 13, 2015 from 6-8pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 1315 S. 24th Street Mesa, Arizona and from 9-9:45am Saturday prior to the funeral service. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 10:00am at the church. Interment is scheduled at 4pm at the Chino Valley Cemetery 2 South Street Chino Valley, Arizona.
