Anita was born April 28, 1947 to Robert Weary and Roma Adams. She graduated from Tempe Union High School in 1965, where she met and later married her high school sweetheart, John Brubaker, at the age of 20. They were married at the Tempe Methodist Church on November 4, 1967. During the first few years of marriage she attended Lamson Business College during the week and drove to California every weekend to see John. She worked for Motorola and as a Paralegal, while typing papers for college students and keeping the books for John’s remodeling business. She loved to toil in the garden, sew, and cook. Her dream was to produce a cooking book. She loved the Home Shopping Network and would share her finds with family and friends. She had a soft spot for all children and was a member of the Tempe SDA Church School Board for a number of years. Her favorite car was the light blue Trans Am with the removable T tops that she loved to drive around town.
Anita had a huge heart for her family and friends. Many of us were adopted as one of her own and was known affectionately as “Mom #2”. If you have a special memory, please share it with us below. She has touched so many lives it is hard to capture it all.
