With sadness, love, and profound gratitude for her life, the family of Alicia Gonzales announces her passing on June 8, 2022, at the young age of 70. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.
Alicia was a graduate of Arizona State University and taught kindergarten for over 20 years at Evans Elementary until her retirement. She was admired by her students, student teachers and respected by her colleagues for her outgoing, caring, and professional demeanor. Alicia enjoyed being in Phoenix and finding peace up north at their cabin. She enjoyed searching for just the right thrifted antiques to fit in with its decor.
She married her childhood sweetheart, Paul “Sonny” Gonzales, in September of 1995. Alicia was an amazing wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt, and friend. Alicia’s smile and personality were always welcoming. She will be deeply missed by her family and everyone she touched.
She is preceded in death by her parents Tobias and Lucinda Perez, brothers Robert Perez and Toby Perez Jr. Alicia is survived by the love of her life Paul “Sonny” Gonzales, her loving and devoted daughters, Melissa Duran (Ralph Duran), Cassondra Landau (Jeff Quintanilla), Emily Hines (Demarcus Hines), Cecilia Gonzales, Norma Occhiline (Preston Occhiline), Paul Edward Gonzales (Sujung Gonzales) grandchildren, Brittany Duran, Courtney Duran, Kaitlyn McFarland, Xavier Quintanilla, Alaura Quintanilla, Danaya Hines, Devonte Hines, Braeanna Siqueiros, Vincent Avila, Benito Avila, Selene Farias, Donovan Occhiline, Noelani Occhiline, great-grandchildren, Ben Avila, Brother David Perez (Annette Perez) and sister Rebecca Kline.
Services will be held for Alicia on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 9:30 AM at Greenwood Memory Lawn Serenity Chapel, 719 North 27th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85009.
