On Friday, August 30, 2019, Alice Ann (Vay) Miller, loving wife and mother of two children, passed away at the age of 73 in Youngtown, Arizona. Her husband, Paul Edward Miller, passed away on October 6, 2015, who was cremated and will be laid to rest with his wife, Alice.
Alice was born on January 21, 1946 in Phoenix, AZ to Howard and Ida (Beck) Vay.
Paul was born on August 25, 1946 in Artesia, CA to Harry and Catherine (Ostrander) Miller.
After they both graduated from Paramount High School in 1964, they went their separate ways.
Alice, started working for Sears, Roebuck and Company, as a bookkeeper in Los Angeles, CA. She then met, Kenneth Ray Arentz, and had two children, Michael and Melody. Alice enjoyed spending time with family and church in Bellflower, CA; the First Church of Christ, Scientist of Bellflower. She also enjoyed the many Boys and Girls Scouts functions her children were involved in. In the mid-1980’s, Paul Miller, retired from the U.S. Air Force and reunited with Alice. Not long afterward Alice and Paul moved to Phoenix, AZ and were married on August 2, 1991. They both went to work for the State of Arizona (various agencies) until their retirements in 2009. They enjoyed spending time with their families and their wonderful neighbors. She also continued with the church in Glendale, AZ; The First Church of Christ, Scientist of Glendale.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Ida (Beck) Vay; her husband, Paul Edward Miller, partner Kenneth Ray Arentz and son-in-law David Howes.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Catherine (Ostrander) Miller, aunts Helen Miller and Barbara Miller; sister and brother-in-law, Harry and Sheila (Miller) Walk.
Alice is survived by her two children Michael Vay-Arentz (Everett, WA) and Melody (Vay-Arentz) Howes (Twin Falls, ID); two grandchildren Anastasia Howes (Everett, WA) and Alicia Howes (Twin Falls, ID); and her sister, Jennifer Howard (San Francisco, CA).
Paul is survived by his, brothers and their wives, Harry (Vonne) Miller and David (Ane) Miller both of California; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 5th at 11 AM at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary 719 N. 27th Ave, in Phoenix AZ. Visitation will be held 30 minutes prior.
