Adam George Kautz, 60 years young, passed away suddenly on August 20, 2016. Adam was born in Glen Cove, New York to Maryann and Adam Kautz and was the first of five children. He was the big brother to two sisters and two brothers (Linda, John, Ralph and Francine). At the age of 13, Adam, his mom and siblings moved to Florida where he graduated from Port Charlotte High School. He was quite the ladies man in those days. Shortly after, the family moved to Arizona to be closer to his beloved grandparents, Ralph and Francis Anselmo. This would turn out to be a significant move in his life as he met his one and only love, Nancy Symes. Knowing she was the one for him, he married Nancy when he was 21, after only five months of dating. Together they loved and lived 39 years together, raising two amazing sons, Marc and Christopher Kautz. He was so very proud of the special men his sons grew up to be. Adam started out in construction at a young age and worked hard to craft his trade. He had over 30 years of experience in home construction and remodeling and during this time Adam built four businesses and proudly passed on his knowledge of building to his oldest son Marc.
Adam was the family rock. As a family man growing up with a single mom and his siblings, he always felt a sense of responsibility and always did his best to be there for them through the good and bad times. He was the big guy that held it all together.
He was a great dad and loving husband. Over the years, his family grew as his sons found their life loves to share their future with. Adam enjoyed the love of his grandchildren and was that funny guy who could relate to them in a special way. He will always hold a special place in each of their hearts.
Adam lived a full life enjoying friends and family. Over the years he acquired a passion for Indian motorcycles and became known as “Braveheart” to his second family of motorcycle buddies that would become known as the Stray Feathers. They forged a unique bond of a brotherhood enjoying their families, attending rallies and just hanging out. Over the years they laughed and cried together. The times Adam spent riding with his fellow Indian riders were some of his happiest memories and strongest friendships.
Adam was a big personality; he took over the room as he loved to joke around and always was the one making others laugh. No doubt he is still doing that now. He lived and loved with passion.
So as we are saddened by the loss of this special man, a husband, father, brother, grandpa, nephew, son, uncle, and friend, we have to remember to celebrate Adam’s life. He enjoyed life and fought hard to stay with all of us this past year. Remember his big smile and his laughter and his kind, open heart. He will always be with us. It was a special gift to have him in our lives that can be cherished forever.
Adam leaves behind a legacy of family and friends. He is survived by his wife Nancy, his sons Marc (wife Lisa) and Christopher (wife Katie), two sisters (Linda and Francine), two brothers (John and Ralph) as well as four grandchildren (Rhiannon, Caitlyn, Kaidin and Madison and a new grandbaby next year). In addition, Adam had many nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts and extended family members that were a big part of his life. We will all remember the big man with the big heart and soul. You will be missed Adam and we all love you.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, August 29, at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E. Greenway Rd. in Phoenix.
