Abraham Brima Sesay was born in Sierra Leone, West Africa on September 10, 1953 to his father, Momoh and his mother Yabu. He left Sierra Leone at the age of 25 to pursue the opportunity of a better education. The adventure began.
Abraham travelled first to Senega, West Africa then went to Morocco, then Greece. He lived in Israel for a year, then continued traveling. He made brief stops in Cypress, Egypt, and London. He finally settled in Canada where he lived for 20 years. He knew no one there when he arrived. He faced prejudice in a very different culture, but he persevered and obtained his degree in Economics from the University of Winnipeg. He moved to Arizona in 2000. The first thing that hit him was the very different weather in Arizona. Although he missed his home of Sierra Leone, he still appreciated living in the US. He was glad to meet some other people from his homeland. They enjoyed getting together to celebrate their native culture and stay connected to their roots.
Abraham met the love of his life, Tammy, in August of 2004. Tammy had relocated to Phoenix from Los Angeles for work. Before actually meeting face to face, Tammy and Abraham had a working relationship via the phone while they both worked for Pacificare. When met face to face, there was an immediate attraction. Abraham and Tammy went on their first date at California Pizza Kitchen in October 2004. A place he chose thinking Tammy may be homesick for California. She shared with him on the date how thoughtful that was, but admitted she had never been to a California Pizza Kitchen. Their love blossomed and they were married in March 2006. Abraham loved Tammy and she loved her “African” (as she affectionately called him). They shared a special love relationship and did everything together.
Abraham was a kind, gentle, caring, and giving man, he always had a smile on his face. He worked out faithfully and hiked every week. He loved to travel and entertain at his home. His pleasant demeanor always showed and endeared him to all who crossed his path. He loved his wife Tammy, treasured his friends, and cherished his family connections.
The sunset of Abraham’s life was on December 9, 2015. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife Tammy, his brother Alhasson Sesay (his wife Kadie), his sister Sadiatu Sesay (her husband Sylvanus), 3 sons and a host of friends. All will dearly miss him.
