Verna Marie Smith

Verna Marie Smith, 74 of Smiths Station, Alabama passed away Thursday at the home of her daughter in Opelika, AL. Cryptside funeral services will be held Monday, October 24, 2011 at 11:00 am ET in the mausoleum of Lakeview Memory Gardens, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am ET at the mausoleum prior to the service.

Mrs. Smith was born October 9, 1937 in Canton, Oklahoma. She is the daughter of the late Francis and Martha Burkhart Reese. She was a homemaker and baptist by faith. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherrie Vitiello.

Survivors include her daughter, Betty Danzey and husband Brent of Opelika, AL, son-in-law, Eddy Vitiello of Port St. Lucie, FL, brother, Francis Reese, Jr. of Oklahoma, grandchildren, Amanda Jones and husband Greg, J.W. Danzey and wife Carmen all of Auburn, AL, Dalton Vitiello, Katlyn Vitiello both of Port St. Lucie, FL, great grandchildren, Ava and Ana Jones, former husband, Wayne Smith of Georgetown, GA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
