Thomas "Tom" Guy Raines, age 86, of Seale, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. A visitation for family and friends for Tom will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Highway 431 North, Phenix City, Alabama 36867, followed by a celebration of Tom's life at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Jack Wallace.
Tom served in the United States Navy for four years. Upon the completion of his service he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years before his retirement. Tom liked to stay busy, most of the time he could be found tinkering in his shop, working on something outside, or riding his tractor enjoying his sweet tea. Tom was a good man who was always willing to help someone in need. Two foods that Tom thoroughly enjoyed were; steak and ice cream. Tom enjoyed ice cream so much that he had a bowl of vanilla ice cream each night before bed.
Tom is preceded in death by: his son, Daniel "Danny" Raines; and his parents, William Guy Raines, and Evelyn Greco; and sister, Linda Davis; and brother, Donnie Raines.
Tom is survived by: his loving wife of 64 years, Sally "Honey" Raines; daughter, Mona Meroney; son, David Raines; daughter, Kim Brown (Alan); daughter, Karlie Hart; daughter Alexa Hart; and sister's Sue McGinnis, Diane Nelson, and Peggy (Raines) Weekley; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
