Miranda Joe Townsend, age 31, resident of Smiths, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Columbus Hospice. Funeral services are scheduled at Lakewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Phenix City on Saturday, November 24, 2018, 10 a.m. with Reverend Wayne Ivey officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 5-7 p.m.
Miss Townsend, daughter of Randy Townsend and the late Belinda Mayfield Townsend, was born December 14, 1986 in Columbus, Georgia.
She attended Smiths Station High School and received her GED from CVCC. Miranda was a member of Midway Baptist Church since October 11, 1998. She worked for Cash to Go of Phenix City for 10 years until her health failed.
Miranda was preceded in death by her mother; paternal grandfather, Joe Frank Townsend, Sr., Smiths Station, Alabama; maternal grandparents, Frank and Bobbie Mayfield of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; and several aunts and uncles.
She leaves to cherish her memory a special friend, Stephen McClellan; two sons, Jaden Bentley Sanford and Camryn Brett Hiers, both of Smiths Station, Alabama; father, Momen Randy Townsend and friend Dee Newsome; grandmother, Sybil Elaine Townsend; uncle, Joe Frank Townsend, Jr "Rusty" and wife Dana and their family, Derek and Brittany Townsend, Craig and Melissa Townsend and family, Cody Townsend, Caylin and James Tate, Tyler and Nathalie Green and family, all of Smiths Station, Alabama; aunt, Barbara Campbell and family; uncles, Jim Mayfield, Tim Mayfield, and Wayne Mayfield, all of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; and two very special friends, Brandi Mathis and Melissa Core.
A very special thanks to the special friends along with Brittany Townsend, the Doctors and Nurses at Columbus Hospice. The Townsend Family could not have gotten through these past months with out the help of all of these.
