Mary Ann Brown, age 94, of Phenix City, Alabama passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025. Born September 1, 1930, in Phenix City; she was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Edwards and Jesse Hunter Revel Edwards. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wallace Kindred Brown, her sisters Ethel Chadwick, Mattie Self and brother, Hunter Edwards.
Mary Ann is survived by her son, Wallace Kindred "Kin" Brown, Jr. (Beth); grandchildren Wallace K. "Jeb" Brown III (Sarah) and Abby Ann Brown; great-grandchildren Ann Davis Brown and Bailey Kay Brown. She is also remembered fondly by her nieces, Teresa Gallagher, Lana Adams and Linda Hargett, as well as her special friend, Emily Pharris.
Mary Ann, along with her husband, Wallace graduated from Central High School in Phenix City. She served as chief clerk in the Russell County Probate Office. Throughout her life she was known for her wit, intelligence, impeccable manners and gracious hospitality. During her last years at Legacy she never lost her lifelong desire to entertain and would serve coffee and snacks in her room to visitors and nursing staff. Her great grandchildren were a special source of joy during her illness and last years.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Nicholas Episcopal Church in Hamilton, GA in her memory.
Visitation for family and friends for Mary will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary - Phenix City, 3770 Highway 431 North, Phenix City, Alabama 36867. A celebration of life funeral service will follow Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM, Striffler-Hamby, 3770 Highway 431 North, Phenix City, Alabama 36867. An interment will occur at Lakewood Memory Gardens, 3800 Hwy 431 North, Phenix City, Alabama 36867.
