Lonny Edward Niehoff, 53, of Salem, Alabama, left this world to join his Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, after a sudden and brief illness. Lonny passed peacefully at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Lonny was born to Richard Edward "Dick" Niehoff and Sally Ann Tomasiewicz Niehoff of Chicago, Illinois at Grant Hospital. Lonny was preceded in death by his father, Richard "Dick" Niehoff and his much loved older brother and hero, Kenneth "Kenny" Niehoff.
Lonny spent his youth in Chicago, Illinois and shared many fond memories of his family home, cousins, and friends on Spaulding Avenue.
Lonny moved to Salem, Alabama from Chicago to be near his children, Leslie Niehoff Edwards (Zuriel) and Lonny Edward Niehoff, Jr. in September 1992. Lonny became a father again to Brittany Hardin and Allie Brooke Niehoff. He enjoyed raising his children and spending time with his nephew, Marcus Niehoff and niece Ariel Niehoff.
Lonny, along with his youngest brother, Robert J "Bobby" Niehoff, and mother, Sally devoted themselves to raising his special niece, Nicole Niehoff, here in Salem, Alabama.
Lonny coached his daughters softball team and enjoyed watching Auburn and the Chicago Bears play football.
Lonny was a metal stud framer and drywall mechanic. He was a subcontractor and owner of Niehoff Drywall.
Lonny leaves behind his mother, Sally, brother, Bobby, and four children, Leslie, Lonny, Brittany and Allie. His pride and joy was not only his children but his eleven grandchildren, Nevaeh, Benjamin, Brighton, Lonny "Trace", Messiah "Kane", Kynleigh, Austin, Kason, Emmalyn, Ellie, and Zuriel "Emerson".
Lonny holds a special place in all of our hearts and his presence will be missed by many.
Visitation will be held at Striffler-Hamby, 3770 Highway 431 N, Phenix City, Alabama on Monday, November 21, 2022 from 5 PM to 8 PM EST. A Mass to honor Lonny will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 10:00 AM EST in Lakewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with a graveside service in Lakeview Gardens, 3800 Highway 431 N, Phenix City, AL, 36867, beginning at 11:00 EST.
