A Graveside Service will be held at 11:30am EST at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery Tuesday, March 7, 2023. The family will receive friends Monday, March 6, 2023 from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. EST at Striffler-Hamby in Phenix City, AL.
She graduated from Cuthbert Georgia High School and then attended Andrew College also in Cuthbert, GA. She was an excellent student in both high school and college. She was the third generation of women in her family to graduate from Andrew College.
Her long work career spanned from working for the Atlanta Constitution Newspaper to assisting the Adjutant General at Fort Benning Army Base.
She was dedicated to both her career and family, raising three children with her husband, Ernest.
She was a life-long member of the Baptist Church and was devoted to her work for the church and her love for Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Bradshaw and husband, Raymon, her daughter, Linda Delaney and husband, Don and her daughter-in-law, Brenda Durham.
She has five grandchildren, Nina, Chris, Stacy, Michael and Dalton. She has five great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
Mrs. Durham was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Lee White and India Belle Peak White; her husband, Ernest Rufus Durham and her son, Joseph Ernest Durham.
A visitation for family and friends for Joyce will be held Monday, March 6, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Highway 431 North, Phenix City, Alabama 36867. A graveside funeral service will occur Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Alabama with Pastor David Lix officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital would be appreciated.
