Georgia Estelle Griffith, 87 of Phenix City, Alabama passed away Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Canterbury Nursing Home. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. EDT at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, with Pastor Jim Meadows officiating, accordiing to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431 N, Phenix City, AL 36867. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 P.M. unitl 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Griffith was born April 22, 1923 in Paris, Tennessee, daughter of the late William L. and Minnie Sinclair Anderson. She was retired from the Ledger-Enquirer and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Phenix City. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Leo Griffith and her son, Leo D. Griffith.
Survivors include her daughters, Marsha G. Posey, Sharon Harris and husband, Larry all of Phenix City, AL, daughter-in-law, Jeanette Griffith of Columbus, GA, sister, Jean Borens and husband Charles of Clarkesville, TN, brother, Ralph Anderson and wife Pat of Paris, TN, grandchildren, Haley Carpenter and husband, Rick, Mendy Hendrix and husband, Scott, Ryan Posey and wife, Jennifer, Ben Harris and wife Jenny, great grandchildren, Trent Posey, Parker Posey, Landon Hendrix, Camden Carpenter, Lia Hendrix, Charleigh Carpenter, Libby Kate Posey, Matthew Dean Harris, several nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family wishes to express a special "Thank You" to the staff of Canterbury Nursing Home East Wing and Vista Care Hospice for their care and support.
