David Athey Pugh, Jr., 69, of Phenix City, Alabama died Thursday August 30, 2012 in Phenix City. Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00am Wednesday September 5th at the Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery in Smiths Station, AL. with the Reverend Skip Speed officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Highway 431 N, Phenix City, Alabama. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6pm until 8pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Pugh was born September 30, 1942 in Cleburne County, Alabama, son of the late David A. Pugh, Sr. and Betty F. Pugh. He was a master boat, small engine and automotive mechanic and was a former small engine repair instructor at Columbus Tech. He was a service manager with the former Rustin Oldsmobile in Columbus, GA. and a member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church in Smiths Station. Other than his parents Mr. Pugh is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Nancy Jane Hammock Pugh and sister, Betty Jo Singletary.
Survivors include his son, David Allen Pugh, daughter, Nancy Vaughan, son and daughter-in-law, Michael "Andy" and Denise Pugh, all of Phenix City, sisters, Bobby McGuire and Lynda Osbon of Phenix City, Patricia Anderson of Manassas, VA., grandchildren, Joshua and wife Amber Vaughan, Michael Andrew Pugh, Aaron Justin Vaughan and Joseph Anthony Pugh, 1 expected great granddaughter, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
