He was born on January 29, 1952 in Phenix City, Alabama to the late Mary Evelyn Huckaby Fuller and Albert Allen. He was a 1970 graduate of Central High School in Phenix City, Alabama. David retired in 2014 after a career with Hostess, formerly known as Dolly Madison Bakery.
David was a familiar and cherished figure at the Frank Chester Senior Citizen Center in Columbus and Central Activity Center in Phenix City. He passionately enjoyed many activities, with a special love for bingo, chair volleyball, bible study, dominoes, tea parties, jigsaw puzzles, cards, and line dancing, all of which brought joy not only to him, but also to those around him. Additionally, he was a member of Golden Ages at the Open Door Community Center. His ability to never meet a stranger and his talent for making friends easily left a lasting impact on many.
He is survived by his devoted sister, June Allen; his nephew, Kaleb Allen (Amber); and his great-nephew, Riley Allen. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Evelyn Huckaby Fuller; father, Albert Allen; sister, Annette Cacciatore; and nephew, Joey Cacciatore.
Services will be held at Striffler-Hamby in Phenix City, Alabama 36856 on Saturday, July 13th at 11:00 am. He was a man who embraced life with open arms and an open heart. David's vibrant life was a testament to the power of community, friendship, and family, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
