She was born on August 20, 1936 in Coker, AL and graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School in 1953. She is preceded in death by her husband Joe Henry Adcock (MSG US Army) and her granddaughter Caitlin. Betty is survived by 5 children, Karen Tomkovich (Jack) of Huntsville, AL, Vicki Helton of Navarre, FL, Steve Adcock (Lori) of Kathleen, GA, Laurie Gallup (Gerry) of Navarre, FL, and Melina Adcock of Charlotte, NC; seven beloved grandchildren: Dustin, Meghan, Wesley, Matthew, Ashleigh, Stephanie, and Abigail as well as 4 great grandchildren.
A military wife, Betty traveled to many places around the world while building a loving home for her family. Following her husband’s military service, they retired to Ozark, AL, where they were members of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Betty was a Red Cross volunteer at Fort Rucker. She enjoyed her time spent at the Red Cross helping people through difficult times.
A service will be held on Monday, July 31, 2023 at 12 PM (Eastern Time), in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL. Betty will be interred beside her beloved husband at Fort Mitchell Military Cemetery at 1:30 PM (Eastern Time).
