Pharr, Texas, - Rosita Garcia, a loving mother, and wife went home to be with the Lord on February 3, 2021. While on earth, she lived to serve her Lord Jesus Christ, and to serve her family, friends, and community. Her passion was to exemplify Christ’s love in all she endeavored to do. Until her untimely passing, she was an active member of the Pharr Apostolic Church since the age of 19.
She was born on October 30,1947 to Nemesio Patena Ramirez and Maria de Jesus Gil Ortiz in Mission, TX. Rosita Garcia is survived by her husband of 58 years, Justino Garcia, her four daughters: Queta Sosa (Gerardo), Tabitha Martinez (Raul), Ruth Jimenez (Ignacio), Rosie Cabrera (Jorge); two sons Robert (Irene) and Ruben (Alejandra). She had 22 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Without a doubt, she was loved by her children, husband and friends and will be greatly missed. She was a brave, wise, and generous mother and grandmother that was always ready to help anyone in need. Her family has many beautiful memories of the years here on earth, and one was the way she would bring all the family together by preparing delicious, soft, and full of tasty tamales during the holidays…and not to mention her homemade flour tortillas that bubbled on the griddle. She would encourage her entire family that when things looked bad, instead of worrying, unite in prayer to reach the throne of God for a miracle.
Yet, the most beautiful gift she has left for her children is her perseverant and unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. She was baptized and received the Holy Ghost at the age of 20 while attending the Apostolic Church. Rosita remained committed to serving her Lord and Savior in the church that had introduced her to the gospel and was a faithful member of the Pharr Apostolic Church for 53 years. Her legacy precedes her, as her prayers for her family, her church, and her friends will be scripturally forever in heaven, and will be answered in God’s timing.
Her daily routine would begin like her mother’s: Wake up, devote her morning to prayer, read the Bible and then start the day with the understanding that she had made her spiritual connection to her Master. She poured her life into her children and tirelessly prayed and called their names out in the presence of God. In her prayer, she diligently mentioned every single child, grandchild, and great grandchild in prayer for protection, guidance, wisdom by name every single day. Her home was always open for her children to stop by and visit regardless of what path any one had chosen to take and without judgement.
Once when her grandson was experiencing a seizure, Rosita Garcia rallied her Church members, relatives, and those closest to her to unite in prayer. Days later, her grandson’s life returned to normal.
Her favorite Bible verse was Psalms 91:1-3 “The one who lives under the protection of the Most High dwells in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.’ He himself will deliver you from the hunter’s nest, from the destruction plague.” She was a prayer warrior and greatly respected by her family.
The day she passed and news reached her farthest child in California, within minutes of her passing the hue of the sky and glow of the winter sunset turned powerful pink, that the pink glowed and even embraced the surrounding area for her name Rosita means pink in Spanish. Heaven was announcing the departure of our dearly beloved mother, Rosita. She was known for reminding us how blessed and awesome it was to live a life for God and obeying His Word. We will forever cherish the sweet, and kind memories we had with our beloved mother, Rosita Garcia.
Those that had the beautiful opportunity to meet this wonderful virtuous woman of God, were blessed if not by her words but by her prayers…and now she is rejoicing and walking on the streets of Gold with her Savior Jesus Christ!
