Born in La Grulla, Rafael lived in Sullivan City and moved to Pharr in 1976. He graduated from La Joya High School in 1965 and served in the United States Army. Mr. Garza was a proud veteran and a role model to his family members and many. In 1969, he married the love of his life, Lupe, and together, they had a beautiful family with four children based on love and God. He was a hard worker and dedicated his life to his beloved family; his discipline led him to work 35 years at Weyerhaeuser. Mr. Garza was an avid footfall fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed casinos, traveling, vacations, and quality time with his precious family. Rafael loved his grandchildren with all his heart. His wise words, stories, and smiles are going to live forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
Rafael was preceded in death by his three siblings, Pedro Garza, Criselda Garza, and Ricardo Garza, and his parents, Benito and Rumalda Garza.
Mr. Garza is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Maria Guadalupe Garza; his four children, Rafael Garza, Jr., Maribel Garza, Javier (Leticia) Garza, and Jaime Garza; five grandchildren, Raven, Rafael III, Javier Jr., Carlos, and Christopher; his siblings, in-laws, and extended family.
Rafael's visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., at Funeraria Del Angel Palm Valley, 4607 North Sugar Road, Pharr, Texas, 78577.
The Catholic Service will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at Funeraria del Angel Palm Valley in Pharr. Burial will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Funeraria del Angel Palm Valley in Pharr.
