Paulita Hernandez

Paulita "Nena" Hernandez, 90, died Friday, April 28, 2023, at Colonial Manor in Pharr. She was preceded in death by her parents, Teodoro and Emilia Hernandez, and sisters, Dora H. Garza and Gudermina "Mina" Hernandez.

Paulita was born on June 29,1932, and was a lifetime resident of Pharr. She was a homemaker and loved to cook for her family. She was an excellent baker and would never hesitate to help someone celebrating an event by providing sweets and her famous "pan de polvo". Cooking and baking were her passions. She was also an excellent tailor and was always willing to hem a skirt or pants for her nieces and nephews as they were growing up. She was an avid baseball fan and could always be found watching her favorite team, "The Houston Astros". She had a green thumb and loved to tend to her large garden of different plants and her large orange tree which provided the best oranges each season. Everyone will miss her immensely.

Paulita is survived by her loving sisters, Delia (Rafael) Rivera, Leonor (Ricardo) Garcia, Elisena (+Ricardo) Ibanez, Dr. Gloria (Alex) Davila, and Raquel Closner.

Surviving nieces and nephews are Patricia Rivera, Mary Rivera, Rey (Rebecca) Rivera, Jennifer Garcia, Yvonne Garcia, Emily (Rene) Garza, Melissa (Ben) Ramirez, Richard Ibanez, Cynthia Flores, and Kevin Closner.

She also had several grand nieces and nephews, including Marina Flores, Adrian and Cecilia Rivera, Ava and Aiden Ramirez, Dorie Garcia, Roehn and Ariah Garza, Aaron, Justin, Ryan, and Ian Ibanez.

The family would like to thank Dr. Yuri Bermudez and Colonial Manor Nursing Home. An incredibly special thank you to Elena Treminio for the excellent care and love she gave Paulita.

Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 10 pm, with a 7 pm rosary on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Funeraria del Angel Palm Valley in Pharr. A catholic service will take place at 10 am on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Funeraria del Angel Palm Valley in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley in Pharr.

Funeral services are under the direction of Funeraria del Angel Palm Valley in Pharr.
