Jesus Ybarra

Born in San Juan Texas, Mr. Ybarra lived most of his life in Edinburg Texas. He had a golden heart, he enjoyed helping anyone who needed him. In his younger years, he played softball, participated in competitive race-walks, and ran 10ks. Jesus was family-oriented, he dedicated his life to caring and loving his wife and children. Every other Saturday, he had a family dinner at the La Pesca Restaurant in Edinburg or one of his other favorites Trevino’s restaurant. Jesus worked for 32 years at the City of McAllen; he started his career as an entry level Grounds keeper without a high school diploma. He later was promoted to Crew leader where he was able to mentor and lead other Parks and Recreation employees. He was a man of incredible work ethic and a natural born leader. He represented the City of McAllen and was well respected by his peers. Later Mr. Ybarra received a promotion to Supervisor and ultimately Parks Manager where he was grandfathered in due to his exceptional experience. In 2007 Jesus received his G.E.D in contingent of the recent tentative Parks Manager position, Jesus was successful. He enjoyed working with the public and coordinating yearly City of McAllen holiday parades. He was a hardworking man with resilience mindset with conservative values, Jesus started his landscaping business at age 19. Mr. Ybarra dedicated his life to his career and his family. His jokes and smile are going to be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death parents, Julia C. and Jose G. Ibarra; two siblings, Daniel Ibarra and Maria Delia Vela.

Jesus is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years of marriage, Gregoria Villarreal-Ybarra; Jesus Ybarra, Josiah Victor Ybarra; his seven siblings, Jose Guadalupe Ibarra Jr., Julia Ibarra, Dalia Garcia, Sandra Cuevas, Sally Ibarra, Sandy Ibarra, Leroy Ibarra; and numerous extended family.

A visitation for Jesus will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Palm Valley, 4607 North Sugar Road, Pharr, Texas 78577. A rosary will occur Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 7:00 pm. A continued visitation will occur Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 8:30 am. A catholic service will occur Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 12:00 pm. A burial will occur Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.

Funeral services are under the direction of Funeraria del Angel Palm Valley in Pharr.
