He was born to Aurelio and Maria J. Anaya on Oct. 25, 1935. He attended PSJA School district and after graduation enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served from 1954 to 1957 in the 320th FLDMAINT SQ stationed in Riverside, California. Guadalupe was a self-employed entrepreneur owning multiple businesses. In his free time, Lupe, as he was affectionally called, enjoyed trucking. He was able to visit multiple states while driving his 18 wheeler. He is preceded in death by his daughter Diana Anaya Cruz, his parents, and siblings: Margarita Anaya Chapa, Elodia Anaya Garcia, Gabriel Anaya, Rachel Anaya and Irma J. Anaya.
He is survived by his brother Abel (Paula) Anaya and his sister Maria M. (Maggie) Palacios. His children: Mary Ann (Guillermo) Singleterry, Herbert (Norma) Anaya, Rose (Dan) Szeremet, David (Hopie) Anaya, Rolando (Margot) Anaya, Marco (Lisa) Anaya, Maria M. Anaya, Jaime (Samantha) Villanueva, and Guadalupe (Minerva) Alvarado, 26 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Military burial graveside services will be held Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 1pm at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr, Tx.
