Ernest was a beloved husband, father, grandfather. A life-long Texan, Ernest would proudly tell you, “I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as soon as I could.” As evidenced by his many Texas hats. He held a few vocations as an engineer, a teacher, and for many, many years, a preacher of the Word, a Pastor of God’s flock, and a warrior for the Kingdom of Heaven.
Ernest was born on August 17, 1939 in Agujita, Coahuila, Mexico to Ernest Gilbert Kincaid and Herlinda Flores. He grew up and went to school in Eagle Pass, Texas. He went on to receive a Math degree from West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas and later a chemical engineering degree from Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas.
Years later, after his conversion to Adventism, he would study Theology and prepare for the ministry in Montemorelos, Nuevo León, Mexico. As a minister of the Word, Ernest would pastor several Seventh-day Adventist churches here in Texas becoming a founding member of what started as the McAllen English Seventh-day Adventist Church, which would later become the McAllen All Nations Seventh-day Adventist Church.
His passion was speaking to, and leading people to, a relationship with Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. Then came his other passion; his beloved wife, Eunice Valenzuela de Kincaid. They were wed on July 17, 1971 in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. The next nearly 50 years saw them almost constantly together; where the ministry took him, she went faithfully, lovingly.
He will be remembered for his love for Jesus, the church, his family. He enjoyed watching a good tennis match or a good golf tournament on TV. And, he loved a chopped barbecued brisket sandwich with onions and pickles.
As words of comfort during this time of sadness, we want to share with you one of his favorite Bible passages, Psalm 91, which inspires us, and promises us we will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty, under His wings.
Ernest is survived by his beloved wife, Eunice. His children, Ernest Jr., Eunice Olivo, Enrique Kincaid, and Evelyn Kincaid. And finally his grandchildren; Andric Olivo, Adrianna Olivo, Ricky Kincaid, Ethan Kincaid, Caleb Kincaid, and Grayson Kincaid.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Gilbert Kincaid, and Herlinda Flores de Kincaid.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.palmvalleyfh.com for the Kincaid family.
