Wayne attended Austin High School and graduated from the Jerry Mac Clifton Center. He participated in the Special Olympics in the 50 Yard Dash, Softball Throw and Equestrian events. He was an avid University of Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed bowling and spending time at the Down Home Ranch. Wayne loved gospel music and traditional country music. He was a Christian by faith and attended Celebration Church. He also served as an acolyte when he would attend services at the Episcopal church. He also enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his parents, Lee and Janice; brother, Trey and wife Mindy Penland; niece, Maddy Penland; aunt and uncle, L.D. and Linda Clark; and his cousins. Wayne is also survived by his very special friend, Cristi Cutrer.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Special Olympics or the Mary Gray Foundation, 3006 Highway 159, LaGrange, Texas 78945.
