Warren William Milbrandt, 88 of Austin, Texas, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022. He was born on September 1, 1933, in Yankton, South Dakota, to Arthur Charles Milbrandt and Mildred Alice Milbrandt (nee Talcott).
Warren and Santos “Sandy” (nee Moya) were married on August 21, 1955, after a two-year courtship. They met at a USO dance in Austin where Sandy was serving refreshments along with other student nurses from Brackenridge Hospital School of Nursing. Warren was stationed at Bergstrom AFB in Austin at the time. He served his country for 24 years in the United States Air Force. Warren began training other Airmen from the beginning and throughout his long and distinguished Air Force career in which he earned many awards and recognitions for his work, mainly in the electronics field. While in the Air Force, he did a tour in Vietnam.
After retiring from the Air Force, Warren was immediately hired by Texas Instruments (TI), where he worked for 19 years as a Quality Control Supervisor. He supervised and trained many employees there. Warren was beloved and admired by those he supervised, his co-workers and supervisors.
When Warren retired from TI, both him and Sandy traveled to many different countries and took numerous cruises. They traveled to Russia and other countries. They also traveled to the East coast and West coast to meet their grandchildren and great-children when they were born. Even in his advanced years, he would drive them both to Indio, California, to mini-Milbrandt reunions with his nieces and nephews. Besides traveling, Warren was an avid reader (especially when he was waiting while Sandy was shopping), enjoyed bowling, playing cribbage especially with his brothers and nephews/nephew-in-laws. He also was a jokester, which apparently is a Milbrandt family trait.
Warren is survived by his wife, Santos V. Milbrandt; his daughters Karen R. Morales of Perris, CA, and Jill K. Lanier of Albany, GA. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Jason Lanier (Shannon) of Pelham, GA; Gabriel Morales (Rebecca) of Belton, TX; Jessica Lanier Miller (Lee) of Lebanon, TN; Isaiah Morales (Roxie) of San Antonio, TX; and Genesis Morales Belote (Nathaniel) of Riverside, CA. He has seven great-grandchildren: Frederick and Jude Lanier; Anna, Lillian and Sadie Miller; and Ezekiel and Emery Belote. Warren also leaves behind many Milbrandt nieces and nephews and many Moya family members, including a brother-in-law Fred V. Moya, Sr. (Tonie) of Round Rock, TX.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Charles and Mildred Alice Milbrandt; his brothers: Gerald Milbrandt, Don and his wife Katherine Milbrandt and Marion Milbrandt; his sisters: Gladys and Jesse Gallup, Winifred Ball and Eva Marie Milbrandt (who died in infancy). He was also preceded in death by some of his in-laws: Sandy’s parents Simon Sr. and Tomasita V. Moya; her brothers Simon Moya Jr. and Robert V. Moya.
A celebration of Warren's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville.
