She was born in Gloversville, NY, on November 20, 1933. She was a daughter of the late Louis and Mary Perrella Perna.
She is survived by Sister; Linda (David) Cook of Round Rock, TX, Brothers; Rick (Carol) Perna of Gloversville, NY, Fred (Mary) Perna and Donnie (Max) Perna, both of Johnstown, NY, and Bob (Coreen) Perna of Niskayuna, NY, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by Sisters; Terry Piazza, Connie Putnam, Adora Ort, Brothers; Pat Perna, Louis Perna, David Perna, and Richard Perna.
Ginny majored in surgical nursing at St. Mary's in Amsterdam and served in the Sisters of St. Joseph for 15 years. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from the College of St. Rose in 1967 and she received her Master of Science in Education from the College of St. Rose in 1972. She had a lifelong love of learning and continued taking classes after completing her Master's.
She started teaching while she was a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph. She continued her teaching career at the Broad Street School in Glens Falls and spent many years teaching at Big Cross Street Elementary School, also in Glens Falls. She retired in 1994 and moved to Round Rock, TX in 2001.
She had a passion for reading, puzzles, history, particularly World War 2, the New York Times crossword puzzle, fishing, and especially her German Shepherds. She loved attending hockey games with friends and antiquing with her sister, Linda. She had a generous nature and was a very hard worker.
Funeral services will be held at Cook Walden, Pflugerville, TX, on March 5th at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Cook Walden. Father Thomas J. Reitmeyer will officiate. A lunch reception at a private home will follow.
