Victor Louis Powell

Victor Louis Powell was born in Monroe, Louisiana to Joe Lee Powell, Jr and Sadie Mae DeJohnette Powell on January 30, 1980. He went to school at Bastrop High School in Bastrop, Louisiana where he was raised, as well as Oak Ridge, Louisiana by his parents along with his 8 siblings. He was baptized and a member of True Vine Baptist Church in Oak Ridge, Louisiana. He married the love of his life, Zurishaddai “Zuri” Powell on March 26, 2016 in Monroe, Louisiana. He graduated from Swift Trucking Academy, Corsicana, Texas in 2013. He worked as a CDL Class “A” and Tanker Hazmat Driver for Swift Transportation, Dupre Logistics, and Texas Transeastern for a total of 10 years. He received several trucker awards, achievements, and certificates.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Joe Lee Powell, Jr and Sadie Mae DeJohnette Powell, and brother, Lee Daniel Powell.

Victor is survived by wife, Zurishaddai “Zuri” Powell and son, Caneito Barnes, Jr.; four sisters, Patricia Freeman (Danny) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Ellen Powell of Dallas, TX, Dorcas Powell and Deborah Powell of Bastrop, LA; three brothers, Jerry Powell (Nakia) of Marietta, TX, Terry Powell (Sheila) of Monroe, LA, and Timothy Powell of West Monroe, LA; a best-friend more like a brother, Marc Higgins (Monroe, LA); also a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Graveside service for Victor will be held Friday, May 12, 2023, 10:00 a.m., at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660, followed by a reception at the funeral home.
