Victor was born in Waelder, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents Eleuterio and Petra Gonzales and his siblings, John, Jack, Mary and Henrietta. He met the love of his life in Pflugerville while working as a young man with his family on the farms.
He was a WWII veteran and served in the Navy. He proudly served in the Pacific Ocean aboard the USS Vigilance and USS Ransom. He was a dedicated employee, retiring after many years of service from the City of Austin and the First Unitarian Church in Austin, Texas.
Grandpa, also known as Papito, loved his grandchildren. He taught them how to swim, fly kites, drive a car and enjoyed sitting on his front porch awaiting their arrivals. His favorite farewell to each of them was, “Don’t take any wooden nickels.” He was dearly loved and will be missed by those who knew him. The family would like to thank the staff at Cedar View Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Elizabeth and Cynthia for their compassion and care.
