Van R. Twyman Jr. was born on November 28, 1954 to Van R. Twyman Sr., and Fannie Twyman, in Madison, Virginia. He was the second to the youngest child. Van attended schools in Madison Virginia and graduated from Madison High School in 1972 where he was an avid football player.
After graduating from high school, in late 1973 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and began basic training in January of 1974. In the Air Force he worked and served and steadily climbed the ranks to TSgt after receiving several medals, commodations, and countless accolades. While stationed at Beale AFB in California, Van met his soulmate Andrea Kaye Twyman and the pair married on December 22, 1981. To this union Van and Andrea welcomed their precious children, Shaun Vernon and LaToya Natasha into their lives.
Van came to know Christ at a young age and attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Criglersville, Virginia. After retiring from the Airforce in early 1994, Van, Andrea and their children settled in Pflugerville, Texas. The family joined St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Richard A Coaxum. There the family became active in the church and Van served faithfully in several roles from Deacon, to an ordained associate minister. Rev, Twyman was a team lead of the outreach ministry and was active in the seniors ministry, choir, brotherhood, and ministers ministries until COVID 19 hit and restricted accessibility to gather and meet in person.
Van Twyman, following his retirement from the Air Force, continued to want to be a server of the community and got into law enforcement. He began working at Travis County Sherriff’s Department until he retired in 2014.
On Wednesday, September 28, 2022, our Heavenly Father granted him his eternal wings and blissful rest. He was preceded in death by his parents, Van R. Twyman Sr., and Fannie Twyman and his wife of 37.5 years, Andrea K. Twyman.
