Theresa Rogers, age 84, died September 16, 2015 in Austin, Texas. She was born November 2, 1930 in New Iberia, Louisiana, the home of gumbo, Tabasco sauce, and the Cajun way of life. Her father was August Dugas; her mother was Therese Landry. After the early death of her mother, Theresa was raised by Albert and Marie Hulin, whose children—Dorothy, Marie, Paul, and Gene—became her sisters and brothers.
At the age of 19, Theresa married Warren “Kenny” Rogers of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and moved around the country with her husband, who was employed in the field of oil exploration. They eventually settled in Austin, Texas, where she worked until retiring from the Howard Johnson Company.
Theresa is survived by her husband of 65 years, Warren Rogers, Sr., of Austin, Texas; her son Warren Rogers, Jr., of New Braunfels, Texas; her son Mike Rogers of Round Rock, Texas; and her daughter Diane Rice of Pflugerville, Texas. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Services to celebrate Theresa’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2015 in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. Her family will greet guests at a visitation to be held prior to services, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Interment services will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery.
