Sylvia Dean Sanders passed on to be with her Lord and Savior on July 26th, 2018. Sylvia was born on December 14, 1929 in Sublette, Illinois to Claude and Bessie White. The first years of her life were spent in Dixon, Illinois where her parents both worked at the State Hospital. They later moved to live near his family in Crainville, Illinois.
She attended school there and after graduating from Carterville High School, attended SIU in Carbondale, Illinois. She married Earl Sanders, Jr. of Herrin, Illinois in July of 1948. They had two sons, Mark Douglas and Michael Eric while they were living on West Grand in Carterville, IL. They moved to Lexington, Kentucky for a short while after Earl gained employment with IBM, and then moved to Austin, Texas where they lived for 40 years. After Earl’s passing in 2008, Sylvia resided at Longhorn Village in Austin where she made many friends.
Sylvia was employed by the Carterville School District while living in Carterville, and worked for the Austin School District, after moving there, until her retirement on January 31, 1990.
A talented china painter and floral arranger, Sylvia loved to create beautiful things. She was a member of Great Hills Baptist Church and loved to sing in the Senior Choir there, which she did for several years.
Sylvia leaves behind her son, Mark; daughter-in-law Corinne; beloved grandchildren, Warren and Alyssa, all of Giddings, TX, and her son, Michael of Austin, TX. She also leaves her sister, Pat Jones and her brother-in-law, Bob Jones, of Tucson AZ; her nieces, Cat Gilbert of Little Rock, AR, Lisa Horner of Tucson, AZ, Donna Pickett of Lake Mary, FL, Mary Ann Sanders of Sarasota, FL; nephew, Terry Sanders of Jacksonville, FL; as well as, grand nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her parents, Claude and Bessie White; her brother-in-law Ira Sanders; sister-in-law, Cleo Sanders; and her niece, Pamela Jones.
Her loving face with its beautiful smile will be sorely missed, but always remembered.
The visitation will be at the held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 1, 2018 in the Memorial Chapel of the funeral home followed by an entombment in the Mausoleum of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery 14501 North Interstate 35 Pflugerville, Texas.
