Sally K. West, 69, Cedar Park, Texas died peacefully at home with her loving family by her side, Saturday, September 1, 2012. Sally was born April 14, 1943 in Strum, (Trempealeau County) Wisconsin, to August and Verna (Prudlick) Halama. She married Morris W. West December 30, 1959 in Amarillo, Texas. They were married over 40 years until his death, February 18, 2000.
Sally loved her family, her friends and her pets, especially her poodle, Taz, who until recently had been her companion for over 14 years. Sally loved to dance, loved music, travelling, reading, fishing and bowling. Family meant the most to Sally and she loved spending time w/ her kids, grandkids, great-grandchildren and extended family. She also enjoyed the time she spent with her friends. Sally never met a stranger. She was a wonderful, kind, funny, generous, strong and caring person who always greeted you with her amazing smile.
Sally is survived by her eldest son, Johnny W. West and his wife, Janet of Lago Vista, Texas, her daughter, Debbie L. West of Bedford, Texas, and youngest son Chris A. West and his wife, Shannon of Mooresville, NC.; her brother Sam Halama and his wife Mary Lou of Joplin, MO.; 3 grandchildren, Erin Poppe-Coleman, Leander, Texas, Janson M. West, Liberty Hill, Texas, Luke M. West of Mooresville, NC.; 2 great-grandchildren, Masen Poppe and Devin Coleman.
Sally is preceded in death by her husband, her father, her mother, 2 sisters, Sue Ware and Shirley Baker and a nephew, Randy Ware.
Sally had a successful career as partner with her husband Morris in the restaurant industry including ownership as a Pizza Hut Franchisee w/3 locations in South Texas throughout the 70’s. In the late 70’s they became owners of their own restaurants (The Burger Factory and King Arthur’s Pizza) in Killeen and Harker Heights, Texas. Moved into the antique and resale business in the 80’s-90’s. Sally and Morris were owners of different shops in Austin, Marble Falls and Beeville, Texas. Also traveling to shows in Canton, Wimberley and Fredericksburg, TX. Sally worked at Cypress Semiconductor for over 3 years and in 2002 went back to what she loved, the restaurant industry as a food server for Lone Star Café and Catfish Parlour from which she retired in December, 2011.
