Ron was born on December 12, 1938 in Madison, TN to Rudolph and Cornelia Winn. He was raised in Old Hickory, TN and graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1966. He served a 4-year tour of service as a Computer Repairman in the United States Air Force.
He was married to the love of his life, Sandy Poole Winn, for 55 years until her death in 2016. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Ross and husband, Tom; son Scott and wife Amy, son Brian; son Roger; grandchildren, Lydia, Claire, Bradley, Thomas, Rebekah, and Patrick; and nephew, Mark Ross and wife Renee.
Ron worked at IBM as an Industrial Engineer for 27 years. After his retirement from IBM, he became a certified Texas Master Gardener, started Winnscapes Landscapes and Designs, and worked part-time at The Home Depot in the garden department for 18 years. He was also a member of the Austin Organic Garden Club.
In 1971, Ron had two life-changing encounters with God, a born-again salvation experience and a baptism in the Holy Spirit. This started a serious journey of seeking and knowing God. He served the body of Christ by singing in a choir, teaching the Bible, evangelism, discipleship, short-term mission trips, and loving people. Ron was an ordained house-church pastor and prayer minister.
