Robert Lee McCray was born December 31, 1945 in Marion, South Carolina to the late Mr. McKinley Williams and late Mrs. Marian McCray.
The family moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he grew up and attended school. He became a school bus driver for the Philadelphia School district, and learned a trade in tape and floating drywall.
At his crossroads of life he moved to Austin, Texas where he accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior on April 14, 1980 after hearing the gospel of Christ preached by our founder, the late Bishop Roland James Allen. He was united in holy matrimony to Stephany Keith Oliver April 17, 1981. Bishop Allen knew the floor business and he was personally taught by Bishop Allen to work and start a small floor maintenance business to provide and care for his family. M&E Multi-Floor Care began operation in 1987. The business motto was, “Cleaning is my bag”. M&E Multi-Floor Care served many Austin and surrounding area businesses such as eateries, restaurants, hair salons, warehouses, childcare centers, and various contract and residential work including wood and tile floors.
He loved doing the work of the Lord and served many years on various New Covenant Church Committees. He served as a faithful Lay Member, Trustee, Head of the Trustee Board, Deacon, and Single Sister Staff, as well as a member of the Ordination Counsel under the Leadership of the current Pastor Eddie E. Willis, Sr. He also coordinated the Fundraiser Committee and many other special occasions.
Even through his sickness he remained faithful until the end – loving the Lord and people. He never met a stranger.
