Robert passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, December 1, 2022 after multiple health complications including cancer. He was born on October 11, 1947 in Austin, Texas to William and Lorene Jenkins.
Robert graduated from McCallum High School and subsequently joined the United States Army. He served honorably in Germany during the Cold War and earned the rank of PV1. When he left the Army he began working at UT Austin in the Bureau of Business Research and stayed there until his retirement in 1999. At work he met the love of his life, April Lauritzen and they were married in 1980. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, grilling food outdoors, road trips both long and short, and playing poker. An animal lover, he took his dog to the park every day.
He is preceded in death by both parents and his wife April. He leaves behind two sons; Dane Caruthers, wife Stina Leicht; and Ryun Caruthers, as well as grandson Ryun Jr. He will also be sorely missed by his extended relations in the Jenkins, Dorsett, Neu, Baker, and Lauritzen families.
A visitation for Robert will be held Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Following the service, he will be laid to rest next to his wife, April, at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Curtis Baker, Steve Baker, Kevin Baker, Mark Dorsett, Aaron Lauritzen, Reagan Moore, Robert Neu, John Smith, Brent Lauritzen and Nathan Lauritzen.
