Richard Harold Troxell

Richard Harold Troxell, known to all as “Dick”, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 8, 2023 in Georgetown, TX at the age of 88.

Dick was born in Easton, PA on November 20, 1934. He was the second son of the late Raymond Robert Troxell Sr. and Mary Jane (Cooney) Troxell. Dick is preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Troxell Jr. Dick’s wife of 55 ½ years, Judith Caroline (Gangewer) Troxell passed on March 16, 2016.

Dick started his professional career at Western Electric, as an Engineer in Murray Hill, NJ and relocated to Allentown, PA. It was there he met his wife, Judy. In 1961, he went to work with IBM in up-state New York. Dick had a distinguished and respected career with IBM in Endicott, NY and then with IBM in Austin, TX. After 31 ½ years, Dick retired as a Senior Engineer and Engineering Manager at various levels. After retirement, he fulfilled a life-long dream to teach. For ten years, Dick taught Computer Science at Austin Community College in Austin, TX.

Dick had many interests including Philosophy, Economics, Mathematics, Greek and Roman History, American and Scottish History, U.S. Government along with Chemical and Environmental Engineering. He also enjoyed all fields of Natural Science. He was a dedicated walker and exercised daily. Dick enjoyed being with people and discussing any and all subject matter. He was an avid reader and enjoyed the poetry of Lord Byron, Robert Frost and Walt Whitman. He was an active member of various book clubs over his lifetime.

Dick’s favorite sport was baseball, at all levels. Since the summer of 1941, he was a passionate NY Yankee fan. He coached little league baseball, football and basketball in PA, NY, and Texas. He also enjoyed watching college football and playing pool at the billiards' club in Sun City, Texas.

Dick is survived by four children: Viki Snyder Williamson (John A.-deceased) of Houston TX; John Snyder (Jodi) of Rome, PA; Tami Troxell Lockard (Jeff) of Lake San Marcos, CA; and Dan Troxell (Shelley) of Leander, TX.

Eleven grandchildren: Melissa Williamson Krieg (Paul), Brandi Williamson King (Stephen), Lindsey Williamson Sayon, Stacie Williamson Jenkins (Kyle), John A. Snyder, Lisa Snyder, Anthony Snyder, Brock Troxell (Janiece), Casey Howrilka (Trina), Michael Troxell (Marisa) and David Troxell.

Ten great-grandchildren: Erica Krieg, Blake Krieg, Asher King, Micah King, Jairo Sayon, Javier Sayon, Tyler Jenkins, Juliet Snyder, John Snyder and Cody Howrilka.

Brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Janet (Gangewer) Heffner of Allentown, PA, sister-in-law Bobby Lou Troxell of PA. One nephew and four nieces: Terry Heffner, Judy Gross, Gayle Shorts, Pam Rexroth (deceased), and Lynn Rae Strausbaugh all of PA. Dick is survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins living mostly in PA and NJ.

The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to Truewood Senior Living Center and Suncrest Hospice personnel for the attentive and loving care they provided.

Dick will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

No funeral services are planned. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation to the American Cancer Society.
